Horehound can be prepared with honey to make a candy, and it is a very useful herb for supporting healthy respiratory and digestive systems*. It should not be used during pregnancy.

HOREHOUND CANDY
Horehound Marrubium vulgare: 12 teaspoons
Sugar: 2.2 pounds
Water: 3 cups
Peppermint Mentha ×piperita essential oil: add to taste
Directions: Simmer the herb in water until 2 cups remain. Add the sugar and simmer again until thick; stir occasionally. You can check with a candy thermometer to reach the “hard crack” stage. Add the peppermint essential oil and pour into a greased pie dish. When cool place in the refrigerator and cut into squares.
