Reviewed by ACHS Dean of Aromatherapy, Amanda Lattin
At the Apothecary Shoppe, we believe in the power of nature to heal, soothe, and rejuvenate. One of the most versatile and grounding essential oils we carry is our organic Cedarwood Cedrus atlantica essential oil. Also known as Atlas Cedarwood, this oil is not only a staple in aromatherapy but also a powerful tool for enhancing your overall well-being.
The Benefits of Cedarwood Essential Oil
1. Relax and Support Stress
Feeling stressed or anxious? Cedarwood oil should be your go-to for some much-deserved relaxation time! Its calming aroma helps to ease tension, making it perfect for winding down after a hectic day1. You can diffuse it at home or even apply it topically (just be sure to dilute it with a carrier oil) to create a peaceful atmosphere.
2. Breathe Easy
Cedarwood oil has been shown in some studies to support respiratory health2. Inhaling its vapor can often help ward off congestion and maintain clear airways, which is especially helpful during cold and flu season or when you're feeling stuffy.
3. Maintain Focus and Clarity
Struggling to stay focused? Cedarwood oil can actually help you maintain a sharp mind and a steady level of concentration with its natural grounding properties3.
4. Nurture Your Skin and Hair
Cedarwood has a long history of being used to care for skin and hair. Its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties make it a natural choice for maintaining healthy skin free of conditions such as acne, dandruff, and eczema4.
5. Keep Bugs at Bay
Cedarwood oil is a natural insect repellent. Its scent is a big turn-off for many insects, making it a great, chemical-free way to keep bugs away5!
Try Our Cedarwood Inhalation Blend
To really experience what our Atlas Cedarwood Essential Oil can do, we’ve put together a special inhalation blend that combines its grounding effects with the refreshing and clarifying properties of other essential oils:
INGREDIENTS
- 12 drops of Eucalyptus Eucalyptus globulus Oil
- 6 drops of Cedarwood Cedrus atlantica Oil
- 6 drops of Peppermint Mentha ×piperita Oil
- 3 drops of Rosemary Rosmarinus officinalis Oil
DIRECTIONS
- Mix the essential oils in an amber glass bottle.
- Give it a good shake to blend everything together.
- Add 3-4 drops of the blend to a bowl of boiling water (stainless steel works best).
- Lean over the steam, covering your head with a towel to trap the steam.
- Breathe deeply, letting the steam clear your airways and calm your mind.
This blend harnesses the synergy of Eucalyptus for its respiratory benefits, Peppermint for its invigorating properties, Rosemary for mental clarity, and of course, Cedarwood for its calming and grounding effects. The result? A powerful, all-natural remedy that you can easily incorporate into your daily wellness routine!
