Basil: Ocimum basilicum (L.)
Why basil? Basil aromatherapy essential oil has an intensely fresh aroma, which makes it an uplifting addition to “green” blends and perfumes. It’s especially wonderful blended with citrus oils, like sweet orange Citrus sinensis, for a stimulating morning shower gel or blended with a calming oil, like lavender Lavandula angustifolia, to use in your favorite diffuser.
Quality Assured: Our certified organic basil essential oil is responsibly sourced from Egypt. The essential oil is steam distilled from the whole aerial part of the flowering plant. Every batch of oil is Certified Organic by Oregon Tilth and produced without the use of genetic engineering, artificial fertilizers, or pesticides. Additionally, our expert aromatherapists here at the Apothecary Shoppe personally assess all of our oils—using touch, taste, smell, and lab analyses—to ensure that your essential oil is suitable for use and entirely free of adulterants.
Independent third-party lab reports including GC/MS and pesticide testing results are available upon request. Please send a request to apothecary@achs.edu and include the essential oil Latin name and lot number; results include a comparative analysis with ISO and the Pharmacopeia when available.

Lavender Lavandula officinalis oil: 20 drops
Basil Ocimum basilicum oil: 10 drops
Thyme Thymus vulgaris oil: 2 drops
Cedarwood Cedrus atlantica oil: 2 drops
Mix the oils together in a one-half-ounce amber or opaque bottle and use as a concentrate, or blend into one ounce of grapeseed oil with the addition of one teaspoon of jojoba oil. If using the concentrate, massage a few drops into your scalp nightly or apply a few drops to your hairbrush. This oil is wonderful for adding shine to your hair and supporting volume while not leaving your hair greasy. If using the diluted formula, massage into the scalp for a minimum of two minutes and follow with a warm towel to aid absorption.
